Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent
our seacoast community in Augusta! I will always
cherish the memories of my campaign travels around
our district. During that time, I enjoyed meeting
everyone and found it extremely important to listen
to the concerns facing the residents of York County.
The 123rd Legislature has started its journey; its
destination is less clear. However, it is my goal
as State Senator to guide our district down the road
of results as we move through the legislative process.
This will be a long trip, and at times we will face
some rough terrain, but in the end it is important
that we move forward and not lose sight of where
we want to be. Along the way, I pledge to listen
to the voices of District 1 and do what is best for
our towns and our state. Together we can achieve
what is best and right for the people of Maine.
The Brookings Institution and GrowSmart Maine released
the report “Charting Maine’s Future.” This
report provides an action plan to promote sustainable
prosperity and quality places here in Maine. Highlights
from the plan call for cutting taxes, increasing
efficiency in government, targeting investment funds,
and assistance for helping Maine communities plan,
grow, and strengthen for the future while protecting
and preserving the unique character of our towns.
I believe that Maine stands poised for some great
accomplishments!
I am pleased to report my appointment as Chair
of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee.
This position is appointed by the President of the
Senate and I am honored to hold the privilege to
serve and lead on Education. The committee faces
great challenges, however, I see each challenge as
an opportunity to build and improve upon the educational
system in Maine.
As State Senator, I am always available to hear
what you have to say and suggest. I greatly appreciate
your support and look forward to working together
on what is best for all of Maine.
Sincerely,

Peter B. Bowman
Maine State Senator
District 1
