Senator Bruce Bryant was first elected
to the Maine Senate in 2002 after having served six
years in the House of Representatives. The Senate President
appointed Senator Bryant to Chair the Legislature’s
Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. He has also
served on the Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry
Committee. While in the House of Representatives, he
served on the Business and Economic Development Committee,
Natural Resources Committee, Utilities and Energy Committee,
as well as the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee.
Senator Bryant has served on a multitude of legislative
task forces and study commissions, including many that
lead to him introducing subsequent legislation.
Senator Bryant is a lifelong resident of Oxford County,
having been born and raised in Canton where he lived
with his parents and nine brothers and sisters. He
has worked extensively on economic development efforts
in his district and is a past-president of UPIU - Local
900, founding president of the River Valley Technology
Center, and is the founding vice-president and current
board member of the Fractionation Development Center
in Rumford. Bruce is also a member of the Webb River
Sportsmen’s Club, the River Valley 4-Wheeler
Club, the Mahoosuc Land Trust and the Eagles Club.
Bruce is a boiler operator at the NewPage Paper Mill
where he has worked for more 25 years. He is the proud
father of three daughters and lives in Dixfield, Maine.
He coaches his daughters’ sports teams, plays
basketball, softball, horseshoes and cribbage. He also
enjoys growing Ginseng and being in the outdoors with
his family.
