Margaret Craven was first elected
to the Maine House of Representatives in 2002, and
after serving three consecutive terms, she was elected
to the Senate by an overwhelming margin in 2008.
She will be representing Senate District 16, which
consists of the city of Lewiston. Senator Craven
serves on the Appropriations Committee.
A dedicated community activist, Senator Craven spent
12 years as a Hospice volunteer, and serves on the
boards of the Lewiston Public Library and Healthy Androscoggin
and is a former member of the Community Concepts Board
of Directors. She also serves as a guardian for persons
with disabilities. Her major areas of focus are long-term
care, services for persons with developmental disabilities,
early childhood intervention, and substance abuse prevention.
Senator Craven and her husband, Jim, are the parents
of two grown sons, Walther Matthew and TJ, and grandparents
of Finn Joseph Craven and Declan Matthew. Senator Craven
has lived in Lewiston for past 38 years.
