Sen. Daughtry earns a perfect score from Maine AFL-CIO for voting record supporting working families
AUGUSTA — Sen. Mattie Daughtry, D-Brunswick, received a perfect score from the Maine AFL-CIO’s 2021 Legislative Scorecard for her voting record to promote fair wages and safe work environments and support working families. Sen. Daughtry was one of 18 senators to earn a perfect score. The Maine AFL-CIO scored twelve initiatives considered by the 130th Maine Legislature.
“Maine people work so hard every day to put food on the table and provide for their families,” said Sen. Daughtry. “They deserve people in government who are committed to standing with them. That’s why I’m so proud of my voting record to support the workers who make our state great. Programs like paid family medical leave and advancing our unemployment system strengthen the safety net for so many hardworking Mainers.”
Sen. Daughtry has a long record of serving Maine workers and families. This year, she sponsored LD 1557, to create a study for how to best implement paid family medical leave in Maine. Additionally, Sen. Daughtry co-sponsored legislation to allow for whistleblowers to come forward if labor laws are being violated. Sen. Daughtry also supported legislation to modernize the state’s unemployment system.
Founded in 1956, the Maine AFL-CIO is a state federation of more than 160 local labor unions, representing more than 40,000 Maine workers and retirees. The organization works to improve the lives and labor conditions of not just its members but working people all across the state.
