Statement from Senator Art Mayo on Medicare Part D

(D-Sagadahoc County) – Senate Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee (287-1515):

“I am appalled at the mess that has resulted from the Federal Medicare part D program. What could have been, and should have been a dream come true for older people in need of prescription medication has become a nightmare. As implemented it is complicated, confusing, and most galling of all, vastly inferior to the State run programs that it replaces. I am proud to support these two bills, LD 1959 and LD 1848. Between them they should put Maine’s older citizens back where they were before the Federal Government created this misbegotten program.”
