HOBBINS RELEASES STATEMENT ON SCOTUS OBAMACARE RULING

Ruling takes politics out of health care and is victory for Maine families

AUGUSTA –Senate Democratic Leader Barry Hobbins (D-Saco) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on the Affordable Care Act known as ObamaCare. The court upheld the constitutionality of the health care reform law.

“The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is a seminal step in taking the politics out of healthcare and making sure that all families can afford to have a family doctor.

The most conservative Supreme Court in our history just sent a message to the nation that ObamaCare is constitutional. I hope that we can now do what is right and focus on solutions to the health care crisis instead of playing political football with people’s health.

This means that thousands of Maine families can now go to the doctor when they’re sick, pay for medications that will make them feel better, and get the care they need to prevent long-term illness. It is clearly a victory for Mainers in every corner of our state, regardless of age or income. ”
