Senator Bill Diamond has had very distinguished career in public service. Currently, Senator Diamond is serving his sixth term in the Maine Senate representing the people of Windham.

Senator Diamond has served as the Senate Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Criminal Justice and as a member of the Transportation Committee. In the 124th Legislature, Senator Diamond served as the Chair of Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.

From 1989 to 1997, Diamond served as Maine Secretary of State. However, prior to his tenure as Secretary of State, Diamond served for three terms in the Maine House of Representatives, one term as Majority Whip.

In addition to Senator Diamond’s public service, he has extensive experience as a small business owner for more than 20 years. And, he was a teacher and principal in the Windham school system for 18 years. Diamond’s career in education includes serving as the interim superintendent of schools for Raymond. Diamond also garnered respect as an advocate and lobbyist for eight years–and was Director of Governmental Relations for the Elan Corporation.
Sen. Diamond has lived in Windham for more than 30 years and serves as  President of the Windham Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a volunteer based organized supported entirely by donations, providing heating assistance to those who no longer qualify for other programs and assistance.  All volunteer and 100% supported by donations.

Sen. Diamond has been married to his wife Jane for 40 years and they are the proud parents of two adult daughters and eight grandchildren.
