Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your State Senator. It is an honor to represent this outstanding community.

Maine’s natural beauty and quality of life are unmatched. But it is our people who make this a special place. They believe in family, in hard work and in community. They may have trouble asking for help, but they have no trouble offering it. During these tough economic times, we witness that everyday.

These are trying times not only in Maine, but across the country in this global financial meltdown. Every challenge facing us, however, can also be seen as an opportunity. As we work together to fashion state and local budgets that prepare us for the future and protect us for the present, we will share sacrifices but invest in education, our roads, our towns, and our citizens.

On a personal note, this legislative session is truly special for me. I am grateful and honored to serve as the President of the Maine Senate as well as your State Senator. I am deeply committed to living up to this responsibility.
