AUGUSTA — Sen. Eloise Vitelli, D-Arrowsic, would like to remind students and their parents in Sagadahoc and Lincoln County that the deadline for the Legislative Memorial Scholarship application is this coming Monday, May 1.

Every year, the Maine Legislature awards $1,000 scholarships to one student in each county who is currently pursuing or planning to pursue education at a two- or four-year degree-granting Maine college or technical school. Awards are given to Maine resident high school seniors or full- or part-time postsecondary students accepted to or enrolled in accredited Maine colleges for graduate or undergraduate degrees. So far, no one from Sagadahoc County or Lincoln County has applied.

“I encourage Sagadahoc and Lincoln County residents looking to pursue a degree at a Maine college or technical school to apply for the legislative scholarship,” said Sen. Vitelli. “It is a great way to get money to help pay off your school bills.”

Applicants can go to the Finance Authority of Maine’s website here to learn more about the scholarship and here to see the scholarship application.
