Sen. Baldacci recognized as a Legislative Champion for Maine working families
AUGUSTA — Sen. Joe Baldacci, D-Bangor, earned a perfect score from the Maine State Employees Association (MSEA) for his votes to support state workers. Additionally, he was highlighted in MSEA’s scorecard as one of seven Maine Senate Legislative Champions, for the 2021 session of the 130th Maine Legislature.
“This last session I was proud to stand up for our state’s employees by supporting legislation that uplifts the work they do. I am extremely grateful to these employees who helped our state’s gears continue moving as we navigated the pandemic,” said Sen. Baldacci. “I look forward to building on my pro-worker record in this upcoming session.”
Sen. Baldacci’s bill LD 875, “An Act To Protect Taxpayers in the Privatization of Services and To Establish the State Procurement Review Committee,” which will help make sure the state doesn’t needlessly privatize services, was passed and became law earlier this year.
Sen. Baldacci also has been a strong advocate for raising state employee pay so hardworking Mainers are paid what they deserve whether they work for the state or the private sector.
MSEA scored votes on six bills, including the Back to Basics Budget and the bipartisan biennial state budget. MSEA represents 13,000 public workers. For more information about the votes scored by MSEA, visit www.mseaseiu.org.
