Sen. Chipman invites local students to Augusta for Honorary Page program
AUGUSTA — With the Legislature back in session, Sen. Ben Chipman, D-Portland, is reminding local schools and students about the Senate Honorary Page program at the State House in Augusta.
The daylong program gives students a unique opportunity not only to observe Maine’s legislative process, but to be a part of it. Students from third grade through high school are encouraged to participate.
“I invite all students and young adults to come be part of our state government for a day. Serving as an Honorary Page is an amazing experience you’ll never forget,” said Senator Ben Chipman.
Honorary Pages help deliver messages and distribute documents within the Senate Chamber, interact with senators and, most importantly, take part in a real-world, interactive legislative learning experience.
The Legislature is scheduled to be in session through late June. Honorary Pages are welcomed throughout the session, so scheduling is flexible.
