Sen. Deschambault introduces bill to support Marine Patrol sergeants
AUGUSTA — On Tuesday, March 6, Sen. Susan Deschambault, D-Biddeford, introduced a bill to the Legislature’s Marine Resources Committee to support the compensation of Marine Patrol sergeants. LD 914, “An Act To Enhance the Recruitment and Retention of Marine Patrol Sergeants,” seeks to increase the salary compensation level of Marine Patrol sergeants by 5 percent.
“It’s important that we take the law enforcement our coastline seriously,” Sen. Deschambault said. “We need to adequately recognize the responsibilities and hard work required of these sergeants.”
LD 914 would keep the Marine Patrol sergeant position competitive and incentivize promotion to the supervisory level.
The bill faces further action in the committee and votes before the Maine House and Senate.
