Sen. Libby invites local students to Augusta for Honorary Page program

Posted: February 01, 2019 | Senator Libby

AUGUSTA — With the Legislature back in session, Sen. Nate Libby, D-Lewiston, is reminding local schools and students about the Senate Honorary Page program at the State House in Augusta.

The daylong program gives students a unique opportunity not only to observe the state’s legislative process, but to be a part of it. Students from third grade through high school are encouraged to participate.

“Seeing legislating happen firsthand is a great way to supplement classroom civics lessons,” said Sen. Libby. “I want to extend a special invitation to students making the Honor Roll as a congratulations for their hard work, and to students who excel through experiential learning.”

Honorary pages help deliver messages, distribute documents within the Senate Chamber, interact with the senators and, most importantly, take part in a real-world, interactive legislative learning experience.

Sen. Libby sends a personal invitation to students who make Honor Roll.

The Legislature is scheduled to be in session through late June. Honorary pages are needed throughout the session, so scheduling is flexible.
