Sen. Miramant appointed chair of Marine Resources Committee
AUGUSTA — Sen. Dave Miramant, D-Camden, has been appointed to serve as Senate chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources for the 130th Maine Legislature. The Marine Resources Committee is responsible for managing commercial marine fisheries, fish species and aquaculture.
“I’m honored to be chosen to chair the Marine Resources Committee,” said Sen. Miramant. “As a central component of our local economies, it is vital that we protect our marine resources so that they are sustainable for future generations. I look forward to leading this effort.”
Sen. Miramant also will serve on the Labor and Housing Committee, which focuses on work and safety standards, affordable housing and unemployment compensation.
Lawmakers are assigned to committees by the presiding officers based on their interests, experience and professional background. Joint standing committees are composed of three senators and ten representatives. The Legislature will reconvene in the new year.
