Senate Democrats offer condolences to Mason, Crafts families
AUGUSTA — The leadership of the Maine Senate Democrats released the following statements regarding the death of Rep. Gina Mason, R-Lisbon, mother of Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason, R-Lisbon, and cousin of the Hon. Dale Crafts, R-Lisbon.
SENATE DEMOCRATIC LEADER, TROY JACKSON, OF ALLAGASH:
“All of us in the legislative branch mourn the loss of a fellow member of our great institution, but to lose a mother is a personal tragedy. Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason has had the privilege not only of being a loving son to Rep. Gina Mason, but of sharing with her a dedication to public service in the Maine Legislature. I know I speak for all the Senate Democrats when I say our hearts go out to the Masons and Crafts family in this trying time.”
ASSISTANT SENATE DEMOCRATIC LEADER, NATE LIBBY, OF LEWISTON:
“I knew Rep. Gina Mason only briefly. However, over the years, I’ve gotten to know her son, Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason — as a fellow senator from Androscoggin County and as a member of a family that valued public service and focused its love and devotion not only on its own, but on the whole people of Maine. I can think of no better testament to her life than the legacy she leaves through her family. I cannot hope to imagine my colleague’s grief, but I offer what I can — my heartfelt condolences and friendship to him and his family.
