Senate President Jackson to hold public office hours in September

Posted: August 07, 2019 | Senator Jackson

AUGUSTA — Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, will hold public office hours at three locations in the St. John Valley on September 6.

“With the Legislature adjourned for the year, I think it’s important to be available to hear from constituents and answer any questions they have,” said President Jackson. “Whether you are having a problem with state government, need help navigating state agencies or just want to chat about issues you care about, you should feel welcome to stop by and visit.”

President Jackson will hold his first office hour session in the Great Room at the Aroostook Hospitality Inn on 95 Main Street in Van Buren from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on the morning of Friday, September 6. He will hold sessions in Madawaska and Fort Kent later that same day.

RSVPs are not required, and all are welcome to stop by and ask any questions they have on their mind. Individuals that can’t attend office hours can call President Jackson’s office at (207) 287-1500, email him directly at Troy.Jackson@legislature.maine.gov, or reach him via cell phone at (207) 436-0763. Jackson will also be announcing more office hour sessions in the coming weeks.

During the 1st Regular Session of the 129th Maine Legislature, Jackson cast a total of 362 votes – 100 percent of the votes recorded, excluding absences excused for illness or other extenuating circumstances. This year, lawmakers cast critical votes to hold “Big Pharma” accountable and lower the cost of prescription drugs, provide $130 million in property tax relief and create good-paying jobs in rural Maine. The second session of the Legislature is set to reconvene in January.
