Two local events in Senate District 25 on February 25th will address the ways in which local communities are combating the drug addiction crisis locally.

“I hope you are able to attend one of them to hear what is being done, offer any insight or relay any expertise you may have, and find out ways you can help,” said Sen. Cathy Breen of Falmouth.

The events are:

A panel discussion on “the Maine Legislature’s response to opiate/heroin addiction in our community,” to be held at Merrill Memorial Library in Yarmouth from 7:00-8:30 PM. Panelists will include Senator Breen, Rep. Janice Cooper, Rep. Drew Gattine (House Chair of Health & Human Services Committee), Dr. Mary Dowd (a physician who works in several local clinics), and maybe more.

In Gray, a community discussion on “Drug Use and Next Steps” at 7:00 PM in the Henry Pennell Council Chambers in Gray. Anticipated participants include Municipal Officials and Town Managers from the towns of Gray and New Gloucester, MSAD #15 Superintendent and Board Members, Cumberland County Deputy Sheriffs, and members from Casco Bay CAN.
