Senator Miramant to Host Camden Forum on Governor’s Proposed Budget

AUGUSTA – The public is invited to attend a community forum to learn more about the governor’s proposed state budget and its impact on Maine residents, municipalities, businesses, and organizations.

Senator David Miramant (D-Camden) and Representative Joan Welsh (D-Rockport) are hosting the event in an effort to hear from constituents from Camden, Rockport and Islesboro.

“I look forward to hearing constituent concerns about this budget and to explain what we know so far about its impact and progress,” said Representative Joan Welsh.

Governor Paul LePage submitted his state budget proposal at the beginning of the year and the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee has been reviewing the $6.5 billion document. After a thorough process of months of public hearings, public testimony, and work sessions, the budget-writing committee will provide its recommendation to the full Legislature for consideration.

“We have been holding a series of talks around the district, which has been helpful to hear what people have to say about the proposed budget,” said Senator Miramant. “These forums have provided great feedback and greater understanding how the proposed budget will affect people if the plan moves forward as the Governor prefers.”

The forum will be held at the Washington Street Conference Room at the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm Street in Camden, on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
