Sen. Chris Johnson has served in the Maine Senate since a special election held on Valentine’s Day in 2012.

He currently serves on the Government Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee. From 2012 to 2014, he chaired the Marine Resource Committee and Government Oversight Committee, and served on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee.

Sen. Johnson lives in Somerville with his wife, Valarie, in a house they built together 28 years ago. There, they they raised two daughters. He is a graduate of Bangor High School and the University of Maine, and has worked in information technology at small and large businesses for 33 years as software developer, system administrator, network architect, Internet security consultant and Director of IT.

While Sen. Johnson is dedicated to his service in the Maine Senate, he has also maintained his involvement at the local level, as demonstrated by his 15-year run moderating town meetings in Somerville since 2000.

In his free time, Sen. Johnson enjoys electronic circuit design, programming and fine woodworking.
