State employees union praises the lawmakers for their commitment to working families

AUGUSTA – Democratic Senators Stan Gerzofsky of Brunswick and Eloise Vitelli of Arrowsic have received 100% ratings from the Maine State Employees Union for their support of working families during the second regular session of the 126th Legislature.

“Hard working Mainers are always a focus of my efforts in the Legislature,” said Senator Gerzofsky. “I am proud of my record of standing up for livable wage jobs and benefits.”

Senators Gerzofsky and Vitelli are among the 19 Democratic senators to receive a perfect score from the union, which represents more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.

“Our workforce in Maine deserves our appreciation and support,” said Senator Vitelli. “We should be providing every advantage to Mainers who are working hard to raise their families and contribute to their communities.”

During the 2014 legislative session, Senators Gerzofsky and Vitelli supported a one-time increase in the cost of living adjustment for state retirees and funding for merit and longevity pay for state workers. They also supported the bipartisan, responsible budget crafted by the legislature, bills to increase access to affordable health care, and to support laid-off workers at the Maine Military Authority.
