South Portland’s Sybil Riemensnider honored with Legislative Sentiment

The Maine Legislature honored Sybil Riemensnider of South Portland with a Legislative Sentiment recognizing her 20 years of service as Executive Director of the South Portland Food Cupboard. Riemensnider was presented the Sentiment in the Maine Senate on

“Sybil is the sort of selfless person every community wishes they had,” said Sen. Rebecca Millett, D-Cape Elizabeth, sponsored the Sentiment. “In the face of such great need in our area she manages the Food Cupboard with grace and resilience.”

Under Riemensnider’s leadership the Food Cupboard has grown from serving fewer than 200 people a month when it first opened to more than 700 people per month today.

A Legislative Sentiment is a significant expression by the Legislature in recognition of civic and public achievements.
