Sen. Daughtry welcomes Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School student to the Maine Senate
AUGUSTA — On Wednesday, March 13, Sen. Mattie Daughtry, D-Brunswick, welcomed Harriet Beecher Stowe Elementary School student, Adalise Bullock of Brunswick, to the Senate Chamber. Adalise served as an Honorary Student Page, and she was accompanied by her mother, Jamie Bullock.
“Whenever family visits, it is a special day. I was extra excited that Jamie and Adalise were able to join me at the State House,” said Sen. Daughtry. “Adalise was an honorary student page in the Senate Chamber, and Jamie watched my colleagues and me conduct our work. Afterward, we all met with Maine’s first female governor, Gov. Janet T. Mills, in celebration of Women’s History Month. I hope that Adalise knows she can become a nurse like her mom, a State Senator and small business owner like her aunt, or a governor like Gov. Mills.”
On session days, the Senate Secretary’s Office manages the Honorary Student Page Program in the Maine State Senate. Pages perform various duties such as delivering messages; distributing documents within the Senate Chamber; interacting with State Senators; and taking part in a real world, legislative learning experience.
