Sen. Hickman welcomes Army Sergeant Jack Pitteroff to play the National Anthem

AUGUSTA – On Wednesday, Sen. Craig Hickman of Winthrop, introduced U.S. Army SGT Jack Pitteroff, senior bandsmen, 195th Maine Army National Guard Band to play the Star Spangled Banner on the trumpet alongside the presentation of colors by Loring Job Corps Center Honor Guard prior to the start of session.

“It was an honor to see the professionalism and talent Sergeant Pitteroff displayed as he performed today,” said Sen. Hickman. “We don’t often have the luck to listen to the National Anthem played on instruments in the chamber, it was a memorable event and I am grateful to the Sergeant for taking the time to play for us today.”

The National Anthem is performed or sang by members of the public prior to the start of session days alongside the invocation in an effort to help members start their day in the right frame of mind.
