Sens. Vitelli, Daughtry celebrate passage of supplemental budget, storm relief funding
AUGUSTA — In the early hours of Thursday, April 18, the Maine Legislature adjourned for the year, after passing a supplemental budget and vital storm relief funding.
In response, Senate Majority Leader Eloise Vitelli, D-Arrowsic, and Assistant Senate Majority Leader Mattie Daughtry, D-Brunswick, issued the following statement:
“After long hours of hard work, culminating in a marathon legislative session day, it was satisfying to adjourn knowing what we had accomplished. The balanced supplemental budget is the result of hard negotiations, and the end result was ultimately the kind of honest compromise we know Mainers expect us to deliver. Beyond that, as senators from coastal communities, we’ve seen first-hand just how crucial the storm relief funding is. We’re incredibly proud that these measures have been passed.
“We’re grateful to all of our fellow legislators for their dedication, and to every constituent who reached out to us. We also want to thank all the State House staff, who do yeoman’s work to support legislators and keep things running smoothly. Now, we’re especially eager to see this storm relief funding dispersed, so our communities can continue to build back better.”
