Sen. Rebecca Millett (D-Cape Elizabeth) and the Maine Senate recognized the Southern Maine Agency on Aging for 30 years of hosting the Maine Senior Games on March 10, 2016.

Founded in 1973, the Agency is dedicated to planning and implementing social services for adults age 60 and older. The Maine Senior Games, one of the Agency’s largest events, provides athletic events and wellness opportunities to improve the health and fitness of people 45 and older.

“The scope and depth of the Agency’s work is breathtaking,” Sen. Millett said. “The Maine Senior Games, Meals on Wheels, Community Coffees, fall prevention workshops, Medicare counseling, family caregiver support, and Vet-to-Vet Adult Day Centers are just a sampling of the events and programs offered by the Agency.”

Attending Thursday’s Senate Session to receive the Legislative Sentiment were Larry Gross, CEO of the Southern Maine Agency on Aging, Kate Putnam, Chief Advancement Officer, Jo Dill, Coordinator of the Maine Senior Games, along with two athletes/volunteers from the Senior Games, Johneen and Patrick McCaffery. Sentiments are significant expressions by the Legislature in recognition of civic and public achievements.
