Senator Chris Johnson to Serve on Marine Resources Committee
Augusta – Today Senator Chris Johnson (D-Lincoln County) was appointed to serve on the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources for the remainder of the 125th Maine State Legislature. The Marine Resources Committee is responsible for oversight of the Department of Marine Resources and all legislation concerning commercial marine fisheries management, licensing and enforcement;marine fish species; shellfish; and aquaculture.
“I am glad to be appointed to the Marine Resources Committee,” Senator Johnson said. “Proper management of our marine resources is a critical for the Mid-Coast region, and I welcome the opportunity to begin this important work.”
“I am looking forward to meeting with and being informed by my constituents regarding marine issues and concerns,” Johnson added. “I will be at the Fisherman’s Forum this Friday and Saturday in Rockland to start that process.”
Senator Johnson lives in Somerville and represents Senate District 20, which includes most of Lincoln County and the neighboring communities of Friendship, Washington and Windsor. He was recently elected to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Senator Trahan.
