State employees union praises lawmaker for commitment to working families

AUGUSTA – Democratic Senator Emily Cain of Orono has received a 100% rating from the Maine State Employees Union for her support of working families during the second session of the 126th Legislature.

“Employees of the state of Maine show up and work hard everyday,” said Senator Cain. “Making sure that these individuals receive the proper acknowledgement and compensation for their efforts is the least we can do. I am proud to stand with them.”

Senator Cain is one of 19 Democratic senators to receive a perfect score from the union, which represents more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.

During the 2014 legislative session, Senator Cain helped craft a bipartisan, responsible budget on the Appropriations Committee, and voted for bills to increase access to affordable health care, and to support laid-off workers at the Maine Military Authority. She also worked hard to ensure a one-time increase in the cost of living adjustment for state retirees and funding for merit and longevity pay for state workers.
