SENATOR PATRICK RECEIVES PERFECT SCORE ON LABOR RECORD
State employees’ union praises lawmaker for commitment to working families
AUGUSTA – Senator John Patrick of Rumford has received a 100% rating from the Maine State Employees Union for his support of working families during the 126th Legislature.
“I first came to Augusta because I was tired of seeing working men and women get the short end of the stick,” said Senator Patrick, who serves as Senate Chair of the Labor Committee. “The success of our state depends on the success of our workforce, and I am proud to stand up for working people every day.”
Senator Patrick is among 19 Democratic senators to receive a perfect score from the union, which represents more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.
During the 2014 legislative session, Senator Patrick supported a one-time increase in the cost of living adjustment for state retirees and funding for merit and longevity pay for state workers. Senator Patrick also supported the bipartisan, responsible budget crafted by the legislature, and bills to increase access to affordable health care and support laid-off workers at the Maine Military Authority.
