AUGUSTA- Democratic Senator John Patrick of Rumford has been re-appointed to continue his service on the Citizen Trade Policy Commission. Senator Patrick has served many roles on the Commission as its House Chair, as a member of the public, and a member of the Senate since the Commission’s inception in 2005.

“Free trade deals have a long track record of hurting working people,” said Senator Patrick. “With a new ‘Trans-Pacific-Partnership’ still in negotiations, the work of the Commission is now more important than ever.”

The Commission was established to study the legal and economic impacts of trade agreements on existing laws, working conditions, and businesses in Maine.  The Commission holds meetings throughout the state to provide a forum for citizens and legislators to voice their concerns and to protect Maine’s jobs, businesses, and laws from the negative impact of trade agreements.

The Commission will schedule its next meeting in the coming weeks.
