“Beyond Talking Points:” A Community Forum on Governor’s Proposed Budget Hosted By Senator Nate Libby
AUGUSTA – The public is invited to attend a community forum to learn more about the governor’s proposed state budget and its impact on Maine residents, municipalities, businesses, and organizations.
Senator Nate Libby, in conjunction with Representatives Peggy Rotundo, Michel Lajoie, Jared Golden, and Heidi Brooks will host the forum in an effort to hear from Lewiston residents. They will be joined by guest speakers from the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, Maine Municipal Association, Maine Center for Economic Policy, and Maine Association of Nonprofits.
“The Governor’s budget will impact every person, business, and organization around the state,” said Senator Libby. “It is important that we hear from those who will be affected before any decisions are made in the Legislature. I believe this forum will provide a great opportunity to ensure this dialogue.”
Governor Paul LePage submitted his state budget proposal at the beginning of the year and the Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee is now reviewing the $6.5 billion document. After a thorough process of months of public hearings, public testimony, and work sessions, the budget-writing committee will provide its recommendation to the full Legislature for consideration.
The forum, which is being sponsored by the Androscoggin Chamber of Commerce and Harward Center for Community Partnerships, will be held at the Lewiston High School on Saturday, March 28, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
