DUTREMBLE SWORN IN TO MAINE STATE SENATE
New members welcomed to 126th Maine Legislature
AUGUSTA—David Dutremble of Biddeford was sworn in to the Maine Senate at the State House in Augusta today. Senator Dutremble was elected to his first term in the State Senate in November.
“Maine’s middle class families and Maine businesses need someone who has their back in Augusta,” said Senator Dutremble. “We will do what the people of Maine have asked us to do: get up every day and do our job—work on the best ideas to strengthen our families, businesses, and communities, regardless of party affiliation.”
Governor Paul LePage administered the oath of office to Dutremble and 34 of his Senate colleagues, all of whom have been elected to serve two-year terms. Dutremble represents Senate District 4, which includes the communities of Arundel, part of Biddeford, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport.
Dutremble is a currently a Lieutenant Firefighter and EMT with the Biddeford Fire Department. He is also a Limited Master Electrician in housewiring. His family has a history of political and community service in Biddeford and in Maine. His father was the York County Sheriff for 17 years, his uncle served in the House, and his cousin served in both chambers of the Legislature and as Senate President.
Dutremble and his wife Charlene live in Biddeford and have five children: Christopher, Matthew, Morgan, Austin, and Mackenzie.
“I’m honored to be representing my community, and I look forward to working with the system and not against the system,” said Senator Dutremble. “I look forward to bringing honor and Integrity to politics. I want all the people of my district and of Maine to believe in the system and our government.”
Of the 35 Senate members, there are 19 Democrats, 15 Republicans, and 1 unenrolled member. Seven are women—all Democrats—and 28 are men: 12 Democrats, 15 Republicans, and 1 unenrolled. There are 17 new members: 10 have recently served in the House of Representatives, 3 are former Senate members, one is a former House member and 5 have no previous legislative experience, all Democrats. 18 are incumbents.
