Monmouth student interns with Senator Bellows’ office

Alyssa Thompson, a nursing student from Monmouth, interned in the Senate Majority Office for the fall 2019 semester. Thompson spent her internship shadowing senators and staff, attending legislative meetings, supporting senators at in-district events, and learning what senators and staff do every day in the State House on behalf of the people of Maine.

“It has been so interesting to witness and become a part of the behind-the-scenes work that occurs within the Maine Legislature,” said Thompson. “I’ve definitely deepened my understanding of the legislative process throughout the semester, and I’m really excited to move forward and put that knowledge to use within my personal life.”

“Alyssa approached her internship with a willingness to learn and try new things, and she excelled in the role,” said Sen. Shenna Bellows, D-Manchester, who represents Monmouth. “I can’t wait to see what she does next.”
