Sen. Bailey appointed to Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee
AUGUSTA — Sen. Donna Bailey, D-Saco, has been appointed to serve on the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs for the 130th Maine Legislature. The Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee is responsible for determining how to use the General Fund, establishing general fiscal policy, bond issues and more.
“Working to support Maine families and small businesses will be of utmost importance to me as a member of the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee,” said Sen. Bailey. “I am ready to get to work on these issues and many more.”
Sen. Bailey also will serve on the Government Oversight Committee, which is responsible for supporting the Legislature by evaluating the state government’s effectiveness, efficiency and compliance with laws and regulations.
Lawmakers are assigned to committees by the presiding officers based on their interests, experience and professional background. Joint standing committees are composed of three senators and ten representatives. The Legislature will reconvene in the new year.
