Sen. Beebe-Center celebrated for perfect voting record on reproductive rights
AUGUSTA — Sen. Pinny Beebe-Center, D-Rockland, earned a perfect score from Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund for votes to protect reproductive rights and improve access to fundamental health care. Sen. Beebe-Center is one of 20 senators to earn a perfect score for their 2025 voting record.
“Mainers know what’s best for themselves and their families,” said Sen. Beebe-Center. “Health care decisions belong between patients and their doctors — not in the hands of politicians. I’m proud to have voted for measures that protect Mainers’ access to essential health care like family planning, cancer screenings and so much more.”
Planned Parenthood scored the votes of Maine legislators on 12 bills, including seven bills that would restrict access to abortion and reproductive care. This year, in the face of massive federal cuts, the Legislature invested $6 million in Maine’s family planning services network, which provides essential care for patients, including birth control, cancer screenings and testing and treatment of STIs, regardless of ability to pay. Sen. Beebe-Center also supported a new law that will protect prescribers of safe, effective medication abortion by allowing a provider to omit their name from prescription labels.
Sen. Beebe-Center has earned a perfect voting score from Planned Parenthood each year she has served in the legislature since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the nationwide right to abortion.
