Sen. Brenner celebrated for perfect voting record on reproductive rights
AUGUSTA — Sen. Stacy Brenner, D-Scarborough, earned a perfect score from Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund for votes to protect reproductive rights and improve access to fundamental health care. Sen. Brenner is one of 20 senators to earn a perfect score for their 2025 voting record.
“As reproductive rights continue to be taken away across the country, I remain committed to protecting Mainers’ health and wellbeing through continued access to these essential health care services,” said Sen. Brenner. “As a certified nurse-midwife, I have been both a provider and recipient of abortion care — experiences that made exceptionally clear to me that reproductive health care is a fundamental right. As in this past legislative session, I will continue to vote in support of health care and bodily autonomy by firmly rejecting bills that threaten access to reproductive health care in Maine.”
Planned Parenthood scored the votes of Maine legislators on 12 bills, including seven bills that would restrict access to abortion and reproductive care. This year, in the face of massive federal cuts, the Legislature invested $6 million in Maine’s family planning services network, which provides essential care for patients, including birth control, cancer screenings and testing and treatment of STIs, regardless of ability to pay. Sen. Brenner also supported a new law that will protect prescribers of safe, effective medication abortion by allowing a provider to omit their name from prescription labels.
Sen. Brenner has earned a perfect voting score from Planned Parenthood every year since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the nationwide right to abortion.
