Sen. Brenner earns score of 100% from Maine Women’s Lobby

AUGUSTA — Sen. Stacy Brenner, D-Scarborough, earned a perfect score from the Maine Women’s Lobby for votes throughout the 132nd Legislature.

“For generations, women have fought to level a fundamentally uneven playing field. We can’t afford to let that hard-earned progress slip under a federal administration intent on devaluing women’s rights, health, safety and access to opportunity,” said Sen. Brenner. “I am grateful to have been part of a state legislature that stood up for Maine women in a time of stark need by protecting and investing in equitable workforce access, robust reproductive healthcare and services for survivors of sexual and domestic violence.”

Sen. Brenner has been an outspoken advocate for women’s rights and health throughout her career in public service. During the 132nd Legislature, she sponsored LD 385, “An Act to Protect Communications by Alleged Victims Regarding Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Cyberbullying or Discrimination from Litigation.” Passed with the unanimous support of the Maine Senate, the law protects survivors who speak up in good faith about sexual assault, harassment and discrimination from retaliatory defamation lawsuits.

Sen. Stacy Brenner is serving her third and final term in the Maine Senate, representing Gorham and most of Scarborough. She is a member of the Legislature’s Environment and Natural Resources Committee.
