Sen. Carpenter takes oath of office for 128th Maine Legislature
Carpenter begins representing Senate District 2 in the Maine Senate
AUGUSTA — Sen. Michael Carpenter, D-Houlton, was sworn in to the Maine Senate during a ceremony held Wednesday at the State House in Augusta.
“I am honored to be sworn in to the Maine Senate,” Sen. Carpenter said. “Aroostook County needs a strong voice that will work to create jobs, lower property taxes, and bring accountability and honesty to State Government.”
Sen. Carpenter is beginning his sixth term in the Maine Senate. His extensive background in public service includes one term in the Maine House of Representatives, five terms in the Maine Senate and four years as Maine’s Attorney General.
The 128th Legislature will convene for its first day of regular business on Wednesday, January 4. Members of the Legislature have until Friday, December 30, to submit bills for consideration in 2017. Constituents interested in speaking to Sen. Carpenter about bill ideas are encouraged to call his State House office at 287-1515.
Sen. Carpenter would also like his constituents to know that he is always available to assist them with any state government-related issues, questions or concerns. Sen. Carpenter represents Senate District 2, which includes central and southern Aroostook County and parts of northern Penobscot County.
