Sen. Duson receives She Empowers award from the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce

PORTLAND — On March 19, 2025, Senate Assistant Majority Leader Jill C. Duson, D-Portland, received the She Empowers award at the WE Rock! Awards ceremony, presented by the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. The awards ceremony was held at the McGoldrick Center for Career & Student Success at the University of Southern Maine’s Portland Campus.

“I am honored to accept the She Empowers award from the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. I was inspired and empowered at a young age to lead and lift others up and have spent my career paying forward that inspiration by empowering others,” said Sen. Duson. “As a child of the Civil Rights movement turned Mayor of Portland —­­ and now the Assistant Majority Leader of the Maine Senate, I’m humbled by this recognition and look forward to continuing the work ahead. 

“Senator Duson’s leadership extends beyond legislative achievements. She has consistently championed policies that promote inclusivity, equity, and social progress,” wrote the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce in the ceremony program. “Senator Duson recognizes that those who came before her fought to open doors; she has dedicated a lifetime to serving our community and empowering today’s students, families, emerging activists, and leaders.”
