AUGUSTA – On Friday, April 12, Sen. Jill Duson, D-Portland, welcomed Greg Tosi, his wife Erin Tosi of Portland, his father Donald Tosi, and Donald’s partner Sue Shattuck of East Montpelier, Vermont. Greg Tosi, who serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at Deering High School, recently was awarded the Maine Athletic Trainers Association’s Bill Cox Service Award. The award is given annually to a veteran, accomplished athletic trainer who has enhanced athletic health care and made significant contributions to the professional development and advancement of the profession.

“I’m proud to honor Greg Tosi with a legislative sentiment for being the recipient of the Bill Cox Service Award,” said Sen. Duson. “Greg not only provides exceptional care to athletes of all ages and abilities, but also serves as a mentor, an educator, and an advocate for his profession. His tireless efforts to promote injury prevention and sports safety undoubtedly make a positive impact on countless student athletes across our state. On a personal note, Greg was an invaluable resource for my son Nathan who played four years of rugby on the city team. Greg’s professionalism and care and encouragement of athletes to take care of themselves were invaluable.”

Tosi is a certified athletic trainer who has previously worked at Ellsworth High School and New England College. He is a proud alum of Lyndon State College and was inducted into the Lyndon College Hall of Fame in 1999. Tosi has served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Deering High School since 2001.
