Sen. Ingwersen honors Biddeford High School Senior with legislative sentiment
AUGUSTA — Today, Sen. Henry Ingwersen, D-Arundel, welcomed Benjamin Descoteaux, a senior at Biddeford High School, to the Maine Senate to present him with a legislative sentiment for being the recipient of the 2025 Maine Principals’ Associations Principal’s Award.
“I am so proud to welcome such an impressive student from my district to the State House,” said Sen. Henry Ingwersen. “Ben’s contributions to the school community are extensive and impactful. He puts his classmates and teammates before himself and leads with empathy and thoughtfulness. It is bright students like Ben who remind us of the great potential within our communities.”
“While Benjamin’s resume is most impressive, some of the things that stand out most are his warm smile and his willingness to go above and beyond for anyone in need,” said Principal Martha Jacques in Biddeford High School’s release announcing the Principal’s Award recipient. “Ben doesn’t rush to conclusions, but takes the time to gather information and process it in a way that I have not seen another high school student do. He is able to handle complex issues with confidence and competence and advocate for the best interests of himself and others, including those whose voices are not typically heard.”
Descoteaux plans to continue his commitment to leadership after graduation and will attend Clemson University to study Business this fall.
The Principal’s Award is given each year to one senior from every Maine public and private high school who exemplifies academic excellence, strong character and a commitment to their school community. The award is sponsored by the Maine’s Principals’ Association, the professional association that represents Maine’s school administrators.
