Sen. LaFountain honors local Civil Air Patrol Cadet Colonel
AUGUSTA — On Thursday, July 20, Sen. Dave LaFountain, D-Winslow, presented a legislative sentiment to Cadet Colonel Paul A. Southwick of Albion, honoring his achievement of earning the Carl A. Spaatz Award.
The Spaatz Award is the highest national cadet honor in civil air patrol, and requires intensive training and testing. Cadet Colonel Southwick is the first Maine cadet since 1969 to earn this prestigious award, and the 13th Maine cadet in state history.
“It was an honor to present a legislative sentiment, alongside my fellow Waterville-area legislators, to Cadet Colonel Paul A. Southwick in recognition for earning the prestigious General Carl A. Spaatz Award,” said Sen. LaFountain. “He has rightfully earned this award through his hard work and perseverance. I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next.”
A legislative sentiment acknowledges and recognizes academic, athletic, civic, professional or service-related accomplishments.
Sen. LaFountain is serving his first term in the Maine Senate, and proudly represents the communities of Albion, Fairfield, Oakland, Waterville and Winslow.
