Sen. Nangle welcomes Windham High School boys’ basketball state champions to the State House
AUGUSTA — Today, Sen. Tim Nangle, D-Windham, welcomed the Windham High School boys’ basketball team to the State House. This year, the team won its first-ever Class AA state title.
“It was an absolute thrill to attend the game and watch this historic win in person. I’m so proud of the team for winning their first state championship in the history of Windham High School,” said Sen. Nangle. “I was honored to host them at the State House today, and I look forward to welcoming them back when they retake the title next year!”
“Congratulations to the Windham boys’ basketball team for their victory and capturing the AA State Championship,” said Rep. Jane Pringle, D-Windham. “Their teamwork, dedication and love of the game truly shined through on the court. Go Eagles, keep soaring!”
“Our community is incredibly proud of the Windham High School boys’ basketball team on their incredible, inaugural state championship win,” said Rep. Jessica Fay, D-Raymond.
In addition to winning the Class AA state title, several members of the team received individual awards: Erik Bowen was the Defensive Player of the Year for AA North, McDonald’s All Academic All-Star, and the Gary Randall Award recipient from the Southwestern Maine Activities Association. Blake McPherson was the AA North Tournament MVP and 1st Team All AA North. Quinton Lindsay was also 1st Team All AA North. Coach Chad Pulkkinen was named the 2024 North AA Coach of the Year.
During their visit to the State House, Sen. Nangle presented the team with a legislative sentiment, which is an official expression of the Maine State Legislature recognizing notable achievements by community members.
