Sen. Patrick: It's time to raise the Maine minimum wage

Posted: January 14, 2016 | Senator Patrick

AUGUSTA — Sen. John Patrick, D-Rumford, the ranking Senate Democrat on the Legislature’s Labor Committee, released the following statement after volunteers and activists delivered more than 80,000 signatures to the Secretary of State toward their effort to increase the minimum wage at the ballot in 2016.

“While big corporations and the top 1 percent continue to rake in money faster than they can count it, regular working folks struggle to get by,” said Sen. Patrick. “No Mainer should work hard and play by the rules only to earn poverty wages. There’s no question that the time has come to raise the minimum wage.”
