Sen. Pierce earns perfect score from Maine AFL-CIO for voting record supporting working families
AUGUSTA — Maine Senate Majority Leader Teresa S. Pierce, D-Falmouth, received a perfect score on the Maine AFL-CIO’s 2025 Legislative Scorecard for her voting record to promote fair wages, ensure safe work environments and support working families. Sen. Pierce was one of 17 senators to earn a perfect score. The Maine AFL-CIO scored 11 initiatives considered by the 132nd Maine Legislature in 2025.
“This session, I was proud to support bipartisan legislation that will benefit working Mainers and their families,” said Sen. Pierce. “From teachers, firefighters and construction crews to utility workers, shipbuilders and bus drivers, our district is home to some of Maine’s most skilled, dedicated workers. I’m honored to receive this recognition and will continue to find common ground to strengthen the quality of life and dignity in the workplace on behalf of Maine’s labor force.”
Sen. Pierce received a perfect score for her votes in support legislation that would lower costs for working families and protect the state’s future as a place for families to live happily and raise a family. Sen. Pierce supported legislation to:
● Protect the income of federal and state employees during government shutdowns.
● Help law enforcement and first responders access treatment for PTSD.
● Strengthen the pre-apprenticeship programs that bolster Maine’s workforce.
● Improve recruitment, retention and pay for state employees.
● Ensure that the workers powering Maine’s clean energy transition are compensated fairly with good benefits.
● Fund Maine government services and programs, including education and revenue sharing.
Sen. Pierce also opposed a perennial effort that would weaken the ability of workers to organize for better wages and safe working conditions.
Sen. Pierce is serving her second term in the Maine Senate and represents Senate District 25, which includes Falmouth, Cumberland, part of Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, Gray and Long Island. She serves as Senate Majority Leader and is a member of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee and the Transportation Committee.
