On Wednesday, April 23, Senate Majority Leader Teresa S. Pierce, D-Falmouth, and State Rep. Anne Graham, D-North Yarmouth, recognized the 2025 Central Maine Community College (CMCC) Student of the Year, Tori Wile of Gray, and presented her with a legislative sentiment at a ceremony at the Blaine House. Tori was one of seven students selected from the Maine Community College System to earn this award.

“Tori’s dedication to success and pursuit of a career in construction is inspiring and Maine is in need of young leaders like her,” said Sen. Pierce. “Her commitment to academics and extracurriculars — including volunteering with the Lisbon Community Food Bank and as a member of CMMC’s National Honor Society of Leadership and Success — shows her ability to balance multiple priorities, and I am confident she will continue leading and learning wherever she lands. It was a true honor to recognize her achievement.”

Each year, the MCCS Student of the Year Award is given to one student from each of Maine’s seven community colleges. Students are chosen for their academic success, service to others and commitment to making a difference on campus.

Wile is enrolled in CMCC’s building construction technology program. When Tori is not in class or working for CMCC’s maintenance department, she is usually volunteering with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts or the food bank at Lisbon Community Outreach. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, CMCC’s Gaming Club and a member of CMCC’s chapter of the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success. She is studying the construction and building maintenance fields at CMCC and plans to graduate next month.
