AUGUSTA — Sen. Stacy Brenner, D-Scarborough, received a perfect score from the Maine AFL-CIO’s 2021 Legislative Scorecard for her voting record to promote fair wages, safe work environments and support working families. Sen. Brenner was one of 18 senators to earn a perfect score. The Maine AFL-CIO scored twelve initiatives considered by the 130th Maine Legislature.

“Maine workers are the backbone of our state’s economy,” said Sen. Brenner. “Throughout the pandemic, we have relied on the folks who show up and do their job day in and day out even more than usual. I’m forever grateful for their dedication and sacrifices, and I’m proud to do my part in Augusta to make sure we’re working as hard for them as they have for all of us.”

Sen. Brenner has proven to be a champion for working Mainers during her first term in the Legislature. This year, she co-sponsored legislation from Rep. Rebecca Millett, D-Cape Elizabeth, to increase access to affordable, energy-efficient housing and create good-paying construction jobs to build these units. Sen. Brenner also supported measures to support American companies and Maine workers in state funded projects; to require the Legislature to consider racial impact statements alongside proposed legislation; to improve the unemployment insurance program; and to improve safety on publicly funded construction projects.

Founded in 1956, the Maine AFL-CIO is a state federation of more than 160 local labor unions, representing more than 40,000 Maine workers and retirees. The organization works to improve the lives and labor conditions of not just its members but working people all across the state.
