Sen. Talbot Ross celebrated for perfect voting record on reproductive rights
AUGUSTA — Sen. Rachel Talbot Ross, D-Portland, earned a perfect score from Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund for votes to protect reproductive rights and improve access to fundamental health care. Sen. Talbot Ross is one of 20 senators to earn a perfect score for their 2025 voting record.
“It is an honor to receive another 100 on the Planned Parenthood Legislative Scorecard. This score accurately represents my lifelong work fighting for reproductive rights,” said Sen. Talbot Ross. “I proudly supported a new law to protect health care professionals who prescribe medication abortion by allowing them to use the name of their health care facility on labels instead of their own names. And I was honored to co-sponsor two other bills — now signed into law — that will improve access to reproductive care. Going into this next session, I will continue to play a role in fighting for women’s reproductive rights and the health of all Mainers.”
Planned Parenthood scored the votes of Maine legislators on 12 bills, including seven bills that would restrict access to abortion and reproductive care. This year, in the face of massive federal cuts, the Legislature invested $6 million in Maine’s family planning services network, which provides essential care for patients, including birth control, cancer screenings and testing and treatment of STIs, regardless of ability to pay.
Sen. Talbot Ross has earned a perfect voting score from Planned Parenthood every year since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and eliminated the nationwide right to abortion.
