AUGUSTA — On Thursday, Sen. Mike Tipping, D-Orono, and other members of the legislature welcomed students from Orono Middle School in Orono to serve as Honorary Pages in the Senate Session. The students are participating in an advanced writing class in which they have also written testimony on current legislation.

“It was a privilege and a pleasure to invite students from my hometown of Orono to serve as Senate pages,” said Sen. Tipping. “I am proud to have had these talented students here in Augusta, and I know that each of them have bright futures ahead of them. I look forward to hearing about their accomplishments.”

Honorary pages are invited from around the state to perform duties such as delivering messages to Senators and distributing amendments and supplements in the Chamber under the supervision of the Sergeant-at-Arms and other chamber staff. Those wishing to sign up as Honorary Pages should contact Alex Ferguson in the Senate Secretary’s office at Alex.Ferguson@legislature.maine.gov or 207-287-1540.
