Sen. Vitelli welcomes Father Chad Williams to the Maine Senate

Posted: February 01, 2024 | Senator Vitelli

AUGUSTA — On Thursday, Sen. Eloise Vitelli, D-Arrowsic, welcomed Father Chad Williams of St. Alexander Nevsky Church in Richmond. As part of the day, Father Williams gave the Opening Prayer.

“I am grateful that Father Williams traveled to the State House and delivered the Opening Prayer,” said Sen. Vitelli. “Over the past few weeks, several faith leaders from different denominations and various communities across the district have given their time and energy to inspire my colleagues and me. Their invocations remind us of the purpose behind our work: to serve Maine people.”

On session days, faith leaders deliver a brief inspirational message to guide lawmakers through their deliberations for the day. Out of respect for the diversity in the Senate Chamber, the Senate Secretary’s Office asks that these invocations are non-secular and non-political.
