SENATOR CAIN RECEIVES PERFECT SCORE ON LABOR RECORD
State employees union praises lawmaker for commitment to working families
AUGUSTA – Senator Emily Cain of Orono has received a 100% rating from the Maine State Employees Association for her support of working families during the 126th Legislature.
“The success of our state depends on the success of our workforce,” said Senator Cain. “I’m proud to stand up for Maine workers and their families every day.”
Senator Cain is one of 19 Democratic senators to receive a perfect score from the union, which represents more than 15,000 public and private sector workers throughout Maine.
During the 2013 legislative session, Senator Cain supported the bipartisan, responsible budget crafted by the legislature, and voted to prevent a state shutdown by overriding the governor’s veto of the budget. Senator Cain also supported bills to raise the minimum wage and increase access to affordable health care and low-cost prescription drugs, and opposed harmful so-called “right-to-work” bills, which would have weakened collective bargaining rights for Maine workers.
The Legislature will reconvene in January 2014.
